What a first year actually costs
Tuition is rarely the number that decides anything. This is the whole first year, including the costs that usually surface late.
| TuitionPer year, as published by the university | $6,204 |
|---|---|
| Living costsAccommodation, food, transport — a working estimate | $7,900 |
| Student visaGovernment fee, one-off | $120 |
| Health insuranceTypically mandatory for international students | $480 |
| First year, all in | $14,704 |
Not in the table above: Proof of funds of about CZK 124,500 is required for the long-stay visa. Non-EU students cannot use Czech public health insurance and must buy commercial cover meeting Ministry of Interior standards — CZK 7,000-13,000 a year; basic travel insurance is routinely rejected. The job-seeker permit after graduation costs a further CZK 2,500.
Czech Technical University in Prague publishes its fees in local currency. Figures here are converted to US dollars and are approximate.

After you graduate
Graduates of this program are eligible for 9-mo job-seeker residence permit in Czechia. Work rights are set by government policy rather than the university, and they change — check the current rules before you rely on them.
What the headline leaves outTHE PROGRAMME MUST BE ACCREDITED by the Czech Ministry of Education — this is the thing to check before accepting an offer. An accredited degree at a public university gives free access to the labour market, meaning you can work without a separate work permit both DURING and after your studies, and it is what makes you eligible for the job-seeker permit at all. A non-accredited programme gives neither. The permit itself runs nine months and is NON-RENEWABLE, and you must apply before your current permit expires, not after. Czech Technical University is a public accredited institution, so its programmes qualify.
